STEVEN Lowe ran in two tries as Rossendale climbed away from the foot of the table thanks to a hard-fought victory.

The centre scored in each half as Dale came from behind in a game where the strong gusty wind more than played its part.

Playing with the wind at their backs, Barrow raced to a 19-12 lead at the break with Lowe and scrum half Keith Howie converting his own try after an excellent break down the blind side.

Dale coach Andy Birtwistle reshuffled his pack just before the break and it paid dividends when the home side finally stamped their authority on the contest.

Following a scrum, Corns fed Gary Allen who barged over after coming on to the ball from the blind side wing. Howie converted.

However it wasn't until late in the game that Dale took the lead when Lowe raced over in the right hand corner. Although Howie missed the conversion the points were made safe with a penalty in the final minutes.

Dale will be looking to build on the morale-boosting victory when they make the long journey north this weekend to take on Workington.
