THIS week's Lancashire Evening Telegraph (October 21-26) has produced some very interesting articles.
Margo led the way with her comments on the Church Street debacle, the effect on town centre business and the fact that even after considerable opposition, the council still went ahead with the project.
As she put it, Jeff Stone "a stalwart" and in my view a champion for many people in this town, later remarked on the street parking charges proposed by the council. Needless to say it wasn't complimentary.
He, like many I have spoken to, are concerned about the "anti-motorist" attitude emanating from the town hall.
Not only are Blackburn and Darwen tax payers having to contribute to the installation of the parking meters but are having to pay again for the privilege of using them.
Mr O'Keeffe's comments were interesting considering he is a trader on the periphery of the town.
A major player in the town has been Standard Life but they are desperate to get out. That begs the question why?
One of the consequences of not listening to the electorate is attracting the BNP to stand at the forthcoming election in Mill Hill.
The results may prove interesting.
