GRAEME Souness plans to win the grudging admiration of Celtic's fans when Rovers go into war against the Scottish champions in tonight's UEFA Cup showdown at Parkhead.

The former Rangers boss will send his players out with a clear message to turn on the style at the home of his old rivals.

And he admits the fact that it's Celtic who stand between Rovers and a place in the third round will add even further spice to a game which has already generated massive interest north and south of the border.

"I want to win this because I'm a professional and I want to be in the next round of the competition," said Souness.

"But, yes, it's even spicier because it's Celtic, I cannot deny that.

"At the end of the day, though, it's all about what we do on the pitch and if we do well then I think we are capable of getting some sort of result.

"I want us to go to Parkhead and play. I want the people there to see that I've got a good team.

"It would be nice to be in the next round of the UEFA Cup, especially if we were to draw a big club.

"But we are under no illusions about the size of the task.

"Celtic must be a good team after winning back-to-back titles and, though I've not seen enough of Henrik Larsson to make a proper judgement, he will obviously pose an enormous threat to us.

"So I know they have some good players within that team but I'm not too concerned about them.

"My priority is my own team and I know I have some very good individuals who might become world-class players themselves one day.

"On our day, we know we can match most teams."

With Damien Duff and Andy Cole fit again after injury, Souness is facing something of a selection dilemma in regard to his starting line-up.

He must decide whether to stay faithful to the side which performed so heroically at Highbury on Saturday or bow to the temptation of bringing back two of his potential match-winners.

The one certainty is he won't pick a side designed to bore Celtic into submission.

"We won't be trying to get a 0-0 because I don't have the players to do that," he said.

"We don't encourage them to do that, they don't want to do that. They know their strengths are going forward.

"If we are going to win there, we are going to have to score more than one goal because we are not the best at keeping clean sheets.

"Whatever happens, though, I want us to play better than we did on Saturday because I didn't think we were anywhere near our best."

Rovers' squad is: Friedel, Kelly, Neill, Taylor, Short, Johansson, Dunn, Berg, Ostenstad, Flitcroft, Gillespie, Tugay, Yorke, Grabbi, Jansen, Duff, Danns, Douglas, Thompson, Cole.
