A LOOK at the local football scene.
BLACKPOOL RANGERS U14s 13 WYRE JUNIORS O
DESPITE the recent weather, a perfect playing surface with Rangers dominating throughout. They raced into a 5-0 half-time lead and during the second half they turned on a dazzling display of controlled passing football. This resulted in some fine goals hitting the back of the Wyre net as they totally overwhelmed their opponents for a 13-0 scoreline. Goalscorers were Josh Barron (4), James Smith (2), Jamie Hardman (2), James Aitchison, Steven Perrett, Ben Beckett, Kyle Goodwin and an own goal.
BJFF Under 10s vs. Our Lady BJFF 2 vs. Our Lady 0
AFTER a bright start from both sides, BJFF soon stepped up a gear and generally looked sharper and most likely to score. Although foiled by the opposing keeper on a number of occasions, BJ finally found the net when Josh Derome nipped in behind the Our Lady defence to score. The second half followed much the same pattern with BJ pretty much in control. Our Lady did mount a number of counter attacks but these were snuffed out by the resolute BJ defence where Daniel Drennan was outstanding. The second goal came from an Alex Stubbs penalty after a hand-ball on the line.
BJFF 3 vs. Our Lady 0
The first half was a fairly scrappy affair with neither side finding their rhythm. Our Lady had the best chance with a piledriver which was brilliantly turned away by Jonathan Caldwell. After the break BJ woke up and began to turn the screw forcing a number of corners which resulted in two of their goals. The first dropped invitingly for Ashley Bird to volley home and later Kristian Boney made it safe, coming in at the back post to stab home. In between, Daniel Howarth burst through the Our Lady defence to hit number two.
