Injury worries couldn't halt Morecambe's charge to the first round proper of the FA Cup as their kids showed they were alright in a comfortable qualifying victory.

Teenagers Danny Carlton and Nick Rogan were instrumental in a win, which gives the Shrimps the chance to take on second division Chesterfield in the first round.

The pair were yet to start this season, but 18-year-old Carlton and 19-year-old Rogan showed themselves to be worthy stand-ins for the injured Robbie Talbot, Wayne Curtis and Garry Thompson.

The visitors, enjoying what was, in effect, their 'cup final' started well, and could have taken the lead after dominating the first half-hour.

Former Barnet striker Gary Bull should have done better with a header from the edge of the six-yard box.

However, Morecambe took the game by the scruff of the neck and finally made the breakthrough shortly before the break when Ryan-Zico Black played Stewart Drummond in and the reliable midfielder slotted the ball home.

The clincher came in injury time at the end of the half when the two young guns combined to double the lead.

Central defender Jim Bentley, making his first Christie Park start after returning from injury, headed the ball into the danger area for the pacy Carlton, whose low cross allowed Rogan to score his first Shrimps goal.

Carlton and Rogan combined again on 68 minutes, with another Carlton cross finding Rogan who scored from close range.

Highly-rated striker Jamie Clarke pulled one back for Grantham, but the Shrimps were never in danger of missing out on their big day next month.

The Saltergate clash will give Morecambe the chance to take on a team who have started competently in the second division and are on the verge of the play-off zone.

Morecambe have been allocated 1,400 terrace tickets and 412 tickets for the stand for the match on Saturday, November 16.

The game is not all ticket, but fans hoping to sit down are strongly advised to book their tickets in advance.

Price for the stand are £14 adults, £ 8 concessions, with £13 for the terraces (concessions, £7).

In the meantime, Morecambe will continue their league campaign on Saturday with a visit to Burton Albion.

Nigel Clough's side have made a creditable start to their first conference campaign after promotion from the Unibond league.
