I REFER to W Richard's letter in The Citizen (October 17) concerning the difficulty in obtaining taxis at Preston Bus Station.

I, myself, have trudged to taxis with heavy luggage and have found it a very difficult and almost impossible task.

Goodness knows how I would have coped had I been very elderly or disabled.

I have, therefore, given the matter a great deal of thought and have some ideas for improvements to the present bus station or incorporation to the new one.

Private tour operators' bays should be located at each end of the bus station adjacent to taxi and private pick-up and drop-off points, necessitating no distance over which luggage has to be carried to and from cars/taxis and coaches.

Telephones and clocks should also be available.
