PUPILS will have a history lesson with a difference in the new year -- exploring their own past.
A former dinner lady and pupil at St John's, Mosley Common, are appealing to villagers for help in organising a heritage day at which the children can learn about the history of their village and school.
Sylvia Taziker and her teacher daughter Andrea, of Pear Tree Grove, Tyldesley, are searching the archives for any history on the school, which has been on the same site for almost 200 years.
They are calling on villagers and former pupils to dig out photographs of people, buildings, special events, the school and shops for an exhibition, and also want memorabilia -- old books, school reports etc.
They also want to hear people's memories and will provide a listening ear, tea and biscuits!
Sylvia, who worked at the school for 26 years, said: "We are hoping to make the day special."
Anyone who can help can contact Sylvia or Andrea on 0161 799 5754.
