VISITORS Stockport shocked the Seasiders with three second half goals to destroy Pool's unbeaten home record.
Given County's inferior position in the division and with winning twice on the trot, Steve McMahon's men were confident that the three points would be a certainty. But the visitors surprised everyone to take the points and damage Pool's promotion campaign.
To be fair to Pool, they were missing two of their best players in John Hills and Ritchie Wellens. They were replaced by O'Kane and Coid but even so, Blackpool were expected to win the game.
The first half was evenly matched with both sides having a host of chances. Pool's best came when Keith Southern could only blast over the bar from 4 yards from a free kick following a back pass.
The game really exploded into life in the second half and the visitors took an early after the break. Kevin Ellison drilled into the bottom corner from the left hand side after being set up by Luke Beckett.
Pool tried to pick up their game but Stockport frustrated them well and the lack of Hills on the left was significant. Even the return of Marin Bullock on 57 minutes couldn't turn the game and Stockport doubled their lead on 74 minutes when Alistair Gibb fired home from a Kevin Ellison cross.
Luke Beckett finished Pool off late on with a superb lob over Phil Barnes before Jamie Milligan grabbed an even later consolation for Pool.
Pool remain in 7th after the game but are now a few points of the chasing pack.
After the game a dejected McNahon said: "We lost our patience. I've said people are going to come here with a plan, sit back and try to defend. We started going long too early.
"When we're bad we're very bad. There were six or seven players who had off days today. We can carry one or two, but not that many.
"The biggest indictment was that Martin Bullock got the man of the match after only being on for 25 minutes."
Blackpool 1-3 Stockport
