DETAILS of events to commemorate the country's war dead on Remembrance Sunday in Blackburn with Darwen have been announced.
On Armistice Day, November 11, the usual two-minute silence will be marked by the firing of maroon rockets from the roof of the town hall buildings in Blackburn and Darwen.
A service will be held in Blackburn Cathedral at 9.30am on November 10.
Then a civic parade, led by the standards of the Royal British Legion and the Salvation Army Band, will leave King William Street at 10.25am for Corporation Park.
The mayor, Coun Tony Humphrys, will take the salute as the parade passes in front of Blackburn Town Hall.
At the park, wreaths will be laid at the war memorial in the gardens of remembrance.
Coun Humphrys go to Darwen at 2.30pm and lay wreaths at St. Peter's Church and Bold Venture Park.
The council will provide transport for representatives of organisations who wish to lay wreaths at both services.
On November 9, Coun Humphrys will also be in Darwen laying wreaths at the Town Hall and the Boer War Memorial in Belgrave Square.
