A MAN who dealt cocaine to undercover officers conducting a police investigation has been jailed for two years and nine months.
Shabbir Diveli told police that he had been doing a favour for someone else. Video surveillance showed him selling two wraps of crack cocaine to police.
The 23-year-old of Bicknell Street, Blackburn, had pleaded guilty to a charge of supplying a Class A drug to a police officer.
Rachael Woods, prosecuting, said undercover police, posing as buyers, rang a mobile phone number and asked for "two twenties".
A vehicle driven by Diveli pulled up and he went on to deal them two £20 wraps of crack cocaine. Diveli, who had no previous convictions, was arrested
Mr Arthur Stuttard, defending, said Diveli accepted his involvement. He had been at the bottom end of the supply chain.
Judge Edward Slinger told Diveli immediate custody had to follow.
"Drugs dealings and dealings in Class A drugs, particularly cocaine, are considered to be most serious. The damage they cause to society is unbounded".
