THEY'LL be going Oop-Pop-a-Dah in the aisles when Europe's foremost jazz dance company comes to Darwen.

The Jiving Lindy Hoppers are best known for their spectacular and breathtaking performances of the Lindy Hop -- the original form of jive dancing which developed in Harlem in the late 1920s.

And they'll be strutting their stuff at the Library Theatre next Friday at 7.30pm.

The Lindy Hoppers are heading north with their show Oop-Pop-a-Dah thanks to a collaboration between five northern rural touring schemes, which work together to enable communities to enjoy high-quality professional arts events on their doorstep.

They will be delivering 60 workshops and 13 performances across Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria, the North Pennines and North Yorkshire as part of a six-week residency.

The audience at Darwen is promised a dance journey from the Great Depression to victory at the end of World War Two.

Classic dances, fascinating trivia and unforgettable melodies will tell the story of how America's most popular music and dance forms changed when swing was king.

The Jiving Lindy Hoppers will also perform at Lisieux Hall, Dawson Lane, Whittle-le Woods on Thursday at 7pm.

Tickets at the Library Theatre cost £8 and £6.
