A BLAZE hit the roof of another Blackpool Promenade attraction on Thursday (October 31).
Fire broke out in the roof of Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium at Blackpool Pleasure Beach at around 11am.
Five fire engines attended the fire on Ocean Boulevard, believed to have been caused by a fault in a heating system. No-one was hurt in the fire.
The incident caused traffic congestion on South Promenade, as the seafront road was closed between Balmoral Road and Watson Road and police set up diversions.
Barry Shelmerdine, station commander at Blackpool Forest Gate fire station, said four teams of firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the smoke-filled two-storey building, tackling the fire from above and below as well as directly.
Geoffrey Thompson, managing director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, said the damage "could have been a lot worse" and that a malfunction in a boiler may have been the cause.
"We have a bit of house keeping to get the exhibits back to fine form again," he said.
And he hoped Ripley's would re-open in time for Christmas but said there was a possibility it may not re-open until the park's first spring weekend in March.
