Lancashire County Council's new Carer Support scheme in particularly interested in helping people looking after older people.
The scheme will run alongside Social Services' Volunteer Service, which aims to recruit and support volunteers from the community to provide care and support to vulnerable and socially isolated people.
A spokesperson for Social Services said: "We are looking for new volunteers to join our committed and dedicated team, who already assist in a wide variety of ways including befriending socially isolated people and visiting them in their own homes or accompanying them on social activities.
"Life experience and a genuine desire to help others are just some of the skills you need to become a volunteer."
