PUPILS in Rossendale will test out life in the fast lane when they team up with thousands of other students from the North West at a careers convention.
The trip to Salford Quays Skills City Event will be attended by around 80,000 youngsters looking to find the right direction, including Year 9, 10 and 11 pupils from Fearns Community High School, Fearns Moss, Stacksteads.
Almost every career will be on show at the event and there will be opportunities for pupils to experience some jobs, with many examples of industry and service industries being recreated at the exhibition.
Some of the recreations will include a TV studio, a police station, including a crime scene investigation, an NHS hospital, a Formula One car, an ice rink created by the Refrigeration Training Board, a military jet and displays by the Armed Forces.
Organisers of the event have promised that it will be an amazing spectacle. Fearns pupil, Scott Gray, 15, is looking forward to the event to find out about the variety of careers on offer when he leaves school.
He said: "I am hoping this event will help me make a decision as to what career I will go into when I leave school in two years. At the moment I haven't a clue what career I want to go into so I am hoping this will give me a useful insight."
The event is taking place on November 14 and 15 and more information is available for pupils and parents at www.skillcity.org
