I WATCHED with interest the BBC's TV Panorama programme about whether Camilla Parker-Bowles should ever be queen.
I don't think so. The one thing a royal family provides which you don't get with a republic is continuity, presidents come and go.
But if the law is changed to allow Prince Charles to marry a divorced woman and also be king, what is there to stop future kings and queens from divorcing and re-marrying several times?
Then the continuity will be lost.
Surely, Camilla can be given a title as befits her as the future king's companion.
Then Prince Charles can have his cake and eat it. He just won't get the king!
