A MAN rescued in a three-hour operation to free him from his 38 tonne lorry which overturned, shedding its load of fish on a busy roundabout ,was today named as Ian Ross-Smith.
The lorry driven by Mr Ross-Smith, 63, of Aberdeenshire, was involved in the accident with a car on Thursday at Rawtenstall fire station roundabout.
Emergency services, including six fire engines, ambulances, the air ambulance and the police helped free Mr Ross-Smith.
He was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital for surgery on leg injuries.
A woman who was driving the car was taken to hospital for treatment to leg injuries.
