MAROONS will be fired across Pendle to mark Remembrance Day.
People in the borough will be asked to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in past wars by taking part in a two-minute silence on Monday, November 11.
Geoff Yates, Pendle Council's Principal Committee Officer, said: "Following on from the campaign brought about by the Royal British Legion several years ago, we have organised for the maroons to be fired at 11am on Monday, November 11, as a mark of respect to those who sacrificed their lives.
"As November 11 falls on a Monday, council staff and visitors can observe the silence."
Maroons will be fired in Nelson, Colne and Barnoldswick.
It is hoped that everyone will hear the shots, which have a range of three miles.
