THERE was more success for Radcliffe swimming club in the recent Manchester and District Gala.

An afternoon of high drama at Broughton Pool ended with Radcliffe regaining the title they won two years ago (pictured above).

Twelve teams entered the event, with two sessions and six teams in each session, the top three from each session going through to the final.

After the first ten events in their respective session, Radcliffe had not finished lower than second place in each event but, but three disqualifications evened things out, so it was hopeful rather than sure that they would make it through to the final.

It turned out to be extremely close with but Radcliffe went through to the final.

Radcliffe had an excellent start to the final after winning two events but disappointing results conspired to see the final go right to the wire with Altrincham and Ashton Central.

However, Radcliffe won the final race to clinch the trophy. The team was M Hughes, K Holden, E Brown, J Percival, L Armstrong, J Muir, J Schofield, G Phillips, K Williams, B Kinsler, A Holden, A Coop, L Thomasson, G Kinsler, M Thommason, L Szymanski, A Philips, S Barrow, D Kirkwood, B Hirst, Z Cohen, O McDiad, T Gleaves, J Sawley, J Bleur, C Seddon, J Booth, T Johnson.

In both the Manchester & District Programme 'A' and Team League competitons Radcliffe finished in third place, with the finals yet to be swum.

In the Central Lancs Junior League, Radcliffe again finished in third place in Division One, with the 14 year age swimmers winning the overall trophy for that age group.

The final for the Jubilee League has yet to be swum.

In the Central Lancs Warburton Galas Radcliffe swimmers have performed consistently well throughout the year with many places in the finals and many placing in the top three.
