IF it wasn't for the disgraceful behaviour of some Countryside Alliance (CA) supporters, one could feel a bit sorry for the hapless CA and the mess they made of their march.

Knowing there is little support for bloodsports, the CA made the object of their march so wide ranging that anyone could attend, even anti-hunt supporters.

And like a scene from Laurel And Hardy, the CA end up scratching the heads wondering why people didn't get their muddled message.

A MORI poll of people on the CA march showed that only 27 per cent singled out hunting as the main focus.

The poll also showed that less than half those who attended were from truly rural areas and that 82 per cent of marchers see themselves as Conservatives, which isn't representative of rural areas.

Basically marchers don't like the Government of the country that has been freely and democratically elected.

It is a shame Mr Fell, a CA spokesman, didn't use his letter (October 29) to condemn the marchers who held up placards depicting Tony Blair as Adolf Hitler and referring him to as 'Adolf Blair and his Dictators' or as 'Vermin'.

These types of insults have no place in any campaign. Tony Blair made it perfectly clear that bloodsports would be banned and last year's general election gave him a clear mandate to go ahead with a justified ban.
