ART lovers can enjoy life on the River Calder thanks to a colourful mural above its banks in Padiham.
The artwork, at the rear of Blockbuster video off Burnley Road, depicts the history of the river and its transition from a polluted watercourse to a rejuvenated wildlife haven through the last century. Local artist Nikki Ruse was commissioned by the Environment Agency to design the mural with the help of children from St Leonard's and Padiham Green Primary Schools.
The children also helped Nikki build the seven metre by three metre design which depicts fish, mammals, insects, birds and people using the river after the pollution of an industrial legacy has been tackled.
A witch soaring over Pendle also features.
