SOME clubs might be treating the Worthington Cup with disdain again this season but Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle is desperate for success.
To that end he has named his strongest possible 20-man squad ahead of tonight's match at Turf Moor as he vowed: "This is an important cup for us. It's a route into Europe so we want to get it right at Burnley.
"We've a few injury concerns and at this time of year, perhaps it's time to utilise the squad. But I can assure you, whatever team we put out, we won't be taking this anywhere near a tad lightly.
"In fact this game is just as big a game as any in the Premiership for us because we've got to try to get into Europe this way as well."
The injured players who may be rested are the trio of Robbie Keane (shoulder), Dean Richards (head) and Jamie Redknapp (leg), but Hoddle was hoping they would respond to the treatment they have had since Sunday's game with Chelsea at White Hart Lane.
He has at least been able to include Darren Anderton in his squad for the first time this season. The former England midfielder has not played because of a knee ligament injury but is in with a chance of at least a place on the bench.
Christian Ziege (calf), Ben Thatcher (back), Mauricio Taricco (groin) and Neil Sullivan (broken thumb) all remain out and it appears unlikely that the likes of Steve Clemence, Darren Anderton and Ledley King, all back in action after injury, will be ready to step back into the first team fold.
Spurs, flying high in the Premiership at the moment, have been unlucky in defeat at Anfield and Old Trafford recently and Hoddle is determined to restore the club's tradition as a great cup side.
They came close to glory last season, being denied by one East Lancashire side and they are determined not to lose out to another this season.
