BURNLEY are considering ending future fixtures against Tyldesley after the visitors came under-strength but ended up resorting to violence.
The referee blew the final whistle early after it was agreed that no further rugby could be played as Tyldesley opted for foul means and outright dirty play.
It was never a game for the purtist or faint-hearted but Burnley could take great credit in their strong performance and control.
Mick Uren scored the only try of the match, diving over in the corner after fine work by full-back Mick Magee.
The front row of Richard Summersgill, Phil Jones and Joe Wilkinson were excellent in loose play while Harvey Spence relishing the contest against a side that had not come to play rugby.
Dax Humberstone worked hard at scrum half and allowed stand-off Ali Douglas to release his backs. Some solid tackling and strong defence from the likes of Mark Spencer and ever-improving winger Andy Currid continually stifled the opposition.
Mick Skelton and Ian Bracewell came on in the second half and Bracewell had an immediate impact with his fierce, in-your-face style of play that continued the good clean hard style of rugby played in the first half.
It wasn't pretty but it was a hard-earned win for Burnley.
