Yet another correspondent sends a letter to the Citizen (October 24) complaining about 'anti-social youths'.

All these 'youths' are apparently from the so-called ' underclass' in this particular letter, it appears.

Is nobody from the 'overclass' or 'ruling class' guilty of anti-social acts, I ask? Not one?

What could have been more 'anti-social' than the ' legalisation' of the 1980s and the 1990s largely continued by 'New Labour', which has led directly to the creation and expansion of this ' underclass' in the first place?

Why does Ms Caine not advocate, for starters, the total reversal of these tax-cutting, anti-union, property-speculating laws of the Thatcher era instead of screaming for a virtual police state to be imposed as with her statement ' preventative action', which shows she wants to jail people before they have even done anything, and only for what they might do!

So much for Habeas Corpus and the Bill of Rights which thousands of people died for in centuries past against arrogant, propertied, self-appointed ' Lords of Humankind' like King Charles Stuart, executed by his own people in 1649 for starting four civil wars in Scotland and then England! Plus Wales and Ireland!

The 'anarchy' Ms Caine rails against is the 'anarchy' of the capitalist system, in actual fact.

Face up to these facts.

This system is impossible for the police to control, no matter how efficient or incorruptable they may be in the extreme rightist fantasy world many brainwashed people seem to live in today, encouraged by the Tory Press of the Mail/Express variety as well as many local 'rags'.

I know the problems in the local areas are real, but we must face the root causes, not just the outward symptoms.
