LICENSING bosses have approved an entertainments licence for a pub with a history of noise complaints.
Karl Yates, landlord of the Old England Forever, told Hyndburn Council's judicial committee £50,000 had been spent insulating the premises, in Church Street, Clayton-le-Moors, and the problem had been solved.
He wanted a licence so he could put karaoke on and local bands once a month, he said.
Neighbour Arthur Dugdale was one of two people who wrote protest letters over the proposal. He said: "My real objection is to the clients of the Old England swarming out onto the pavement.
"If there are more people going to be coming because of the application, I feel this exacerbates the problem."
Mr Yates said: "It's a summer problem and I have tried to address it.
"It's a family pub and in the summer people like to drink in the sunshine. I have tried to work out a compromise on it but I have not come up with any ideas yet."
