THE likes of Craig Hignett and Irish international Alan Mahon pulled on the red and white shirt of Morecambe last week.
But The Shrimps haven't burst the bank to sign the Premiership aces - both were playing for Blackburn Rovers reserves, and found themselves pulling on the colours of their hosts after a mix-up with visitors Bradford City.
A young Rovers side won their first game of the season in a convincing performance, taking just three minutes to open the scoring with a header from England under-20 striker, Marc Richards, from a Mahon corner.
Winger Jimmy Corbett created a second for Richards on 34 minutes, with a measured pass which beat the offside trap.
The scoring ended on 79 minutes when Hignett played in young substitute Darren Hockenhull, whose pinpoint cross found the head of Corbett.
Rovers' next Christie Park reserve date is on November 19, when Sheffield Wednesday are the visitors.
