Lancaster City face Marine on Saturday, after a disappointing week which saw them fail to capitalise on their recent good form.

After a Giant Axe defeat by Vauxhall Motors, the Dolly Blues were pegged back to claim a draw on Tuesday after going ahead at second bottom Colwyn Bay.

Andy Whittaker gave City the lead with an 18th-minute strike, but a controversial penalty decision 10 minutes into the second half allowed the Welsh side to grab an equaliser through Carl Furlong.

The game saw popular keeper Mark Thornley finally make his return after injury.

Saturday' s action saw Lancaster again fall victim to Vauxhall Motors' prolific striker Terry Fearns, as their recent run of good form came to an end at Giant Axe.

Lancaster started brightly and managed to get themselves in front on 17 minutes when Andy Whittaker latched on to a Paul Haddow through ball to open the scoring.

City remained in front until the end of the first half, but six minutes in the middle of the second half were enough to give Motors victory.

Firstly, Fearns, last season's Unibond League leading scorer, headed home a Robbie Lawton cross on 65 minutes.

Then, on 71 minutes, Steve Aspinall fed Fearns in the penalty area and he made no mistake from close range to complete an unlikely turnaround.

City play Stamford in the second round of the FA Trophy.

The match takes place at Giant Axe on November 30.

And the cup-ties are coming thick and fast, with City taking on Darwen away in the Lancashire cup on Tuesday night.
