BURNLEY won a thrilling Worthington Cup third round match as they came from behind to beat Tottenham Hotspur.
The Clarets trailed at the interval to a header from Gus Poyet and at times they were out passed with embarrassing ease.
But they showed great spirit to turn the tie around after the break with Robbie Blake's deflected volley levelling the sc ores and Steve Davis's powerful header giving them the lead just past the hour.
Blake hit the woodwork as did ERobbie Keane but the home side deserved their glory night.
The Clarets trailed at the interval to a header from Gus Poyet and at times they were out passed with embarrassing ease.
But following the introduction of Glen Little for Mark McGregor in the 27th minute Burnley at least competed without seriously threatening the Spurs goal.
Clarets boss Stan Ternent left the attacking talents of Ian Moore and Glen Little on the bench for the visit of Spurs to Turf Moor in the Worthington Cup. Mark McGregor and Graham Branch came into the side beaten at Preston, as well as Tony Grant as Ian Cox was also missing with injury.
Spurs named a strong side although Robbie Keane was left on the bench.
