POLICE are hailing the success of a month-long campaign which targeted Darwen's most common crimes -- burglaries, car crime and drugs.
Operation Exclaim has caused a 17 per cent reduction in crime overall and 34 people were arrested.
Tactics used included more officers working on intelligence gathering, extra patrols and providing security advice to the public.
Arrests for drug possession offences increased by 166 per cent. Burglary decreased by 56 per cent and vehicle crime by 19.2 per cent.
