ROAD dangers have been highlighted by people who live alongside a town's new two-way traffic system.
Atherton residents expressed fears that the town centre system is dangerous without an operational pedestrian crossing in Mealhouse Lane.
And their fears are shared by town councillor Sue Loudon, who said: "I agree the pedestrian crossings should have been up and running before the system was opened. The lack of traffic lights at the Flapper Fold junction is also dangerous for drivers."
In addition to a busier road the new two-way system introduces standing traffic to Mealhouse Lane which means more noise for the residents.
"I have made a request for double glazing to be installed in houses on Mealhouse Lane and Mealhouse Court to reduce the noise of traffic. Also the bungalows will be having fencing put up around them. We are trying to get as much as we can for these residents."
