A COMMUNITY garden will give young children an early start on the nature trail
Infants from Hindley Green and Hindley now have their own space in which to become tiny Titchmarshes thanks to a project pioneered by Wigan Council play experts
The garden at Platt Lane in Hindley is funded through the Government's Sure Start.
Play and early years manager John Cooper who led the team and designed the garden, created over a 10 months schedule, said: "It is all about giving children the opportunity to play in the open air in a safe environment.
"We are most excited about the allotment which will allow the children to grow their own plants. The benefits of this are many. It gets children out in the open, helps them learn about nature and gives an early introduction to environmental issues. We look forward to it being a growing success."
A countryside ranger will work in the garden to help it take root and parents and carers will be encouraged to attend play sessions.
