POLICE are hunting a gang who attacked a pensioner in the grounds of Blackburn Cathedral.
Detective Inspector Neil Hunter, of Blackburn CID, said the four Asian teenagers pounced on the man on Monday as he walked thorugh the grounds at around 8pm.
One attacker jumped on his back although the man, said to be in his 60s, managed to fling him to the ground.
A second teenager then attacked the man, wrestling him to the floor.
The victim managed to get up and threw his rucksack at his attackers as they demanded money.
Both the all-male gang and the victim ran off.
The man later returned to find his blue rucksack and contents discarded at the scene.
Police said the man received slight injuries .
The only description was of the first attacker who was said to be wearing a navy-blue top with white stripes.
