A WOMAN who had a successful liver transplant used her ruby wedding anniversary as a way of saying thanks to the doctors and nurses who saved her life.
Sylvia Greaves and her husband Peter, of Whalley Old Road, Little Harwood, asked guests to their anniversary party to donate money to a liver unit instead of bringing gifts.
They raised £800 which for the unit at St James Hospital in Leeds.
Sylvia, 60, had the operation last year after suffering liver failure despite being a tee-totaller.
"I received such excellent treatment I wanted to do something," she said.
