ANOTHER milestone in the story of Bury FC Supporters' Society (Forever Bury) should be reached at a members' general meeting called for 7.30pm on Monday, November 18 at the Social Club, Gigg Lane.

Having gone through the legal complexities of setting up the society and holding its inaugural meeting, the newly elected board of Forever Bury has now reached the stage where the organisation can start doing the things it was set up to do.

These, namely, are to acquire a significant shareholding in Bury FC; to nominate members of the society to the Bury FC board; to be actively involved in all aspects of running the club and to exercise influence over management of the business and continue fund-raising for investment in club projects.

Four main business areas have been identified with titles of "Strategy", "Fund-raising", "External Affairs", and "Finance".

Small working parties have been formed from members of the management board to act as a nucleus group for each category.

The next step, hopefully to be achieved on Monday, November 18 is to swell the ranks of the various working parties by recruiting ordinary members of the society who will be "signed on" during the evening.

During the past few months, there have been many offers of help from members. These have ranged from simple offers of "helping out" to specialist skills.

This meeting will provide the opportunity for all these members to make themselves known and join up with a set of friendly, like-minded people to make a positive contribution to the well-being of Bury PC.

There will be a brief outline of the four main areas of activity to start the meeting. Then, it will be a "getting to know you" session when the ordinary members introduce themselves to the working parties they wish to help.

As Jeremy Clegg, Chairman of Forever Bury, commented: "The Society can only progress with the help of its members. The more members we have actively involved, the more effective the organisation will be".
