AN intrepid duo from Preston are making a wheel-y big push for cash to help a good cause.
Mechanical engineer Robin Brennan and friend Lesley Smith are planning a 600km cycle trip across the rugged plains of Mexico to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Before they set off in March next year, the pair aim to raise £2,700 each for the charity which provides care for people with cancer.
Now they are calling on caring local residents to dig deep and donate cash.
"We're training hard and are confident we can make it all the way," said Robin, of Stoney Butts, Lea.
"We'll be spurred on knowing the money we raise will help people who are facing the far greater challenge of living with cancer. Previous participants have told us this will be one of the toughest but most rewarding things we will ever do."
During their 13-day challenge Robin, 36, and pharmaceutical sales representative Lesley, 41, of The Gables, Cottam, will cross Mexico from the coast of the Atlantic to the Pacific.
The charity champs will be pushed to their limits on pot-holed tracks through tropical farmlands, cloud forest and rugged mountain ranges reaching an altitude of 3,000m on the Sierra Madre range.
But the former pupils of Edmund Campion High School are flexing their muscles and are raring to go!
