MARLON Beresford was one of the many heroes at Turf Moor on Wednesday night but the Clarets keeper admitted: "We must not get carried away.
"To be honest we are a good side and it should not be that big a surprise that we have knocked out Tottenham. We are in the first division and we have got good players and so I don't see it as a big shock.
"It was a great night and obviously we enjoyed it and the fans enjoyed it but now we have to take that form into the league, starting with tomorrow's match against Coventry.
"We played very well but the league is the most important thing and we need to take the momentum from the Spurs game forward so that we start climbing the table again."
Beresford had conceded 12 goals in three games before the visit of Spurs in a spell when virtually every shot on his goal found the corner of the net.
For Spurs in general, and Robbie Keane in particular, it was a very different story. Three times he bore down on Beresford's goal but he missed one and twice forced saves from the keeper.
"You don't really think about who is the striker coming to you, you just want to stop them," he said. "I don't think he made a good contact with any of them but all I could do was try to make the save."
For much of the second half, Beresford was able to admire his colleague's attacking play, as he has done even during the recent run of defeats in the league. In the matches against Grimsby Town and Preston he barely made a save as the Clarets poured forward in attack.
Now he hopes that he will be able to see more of the ball going in the opposite net, instead of picking it out of his own.
Skipper Steve Davis will play a major part in making sure that the Clarets are tight at the back and he may find himself back in the middle of defence against the Sky Blues tomorrow.
With Ian Cox out, he was back alongside Arthur Gnohere for most of the match against Spurs, replacing Mark McGregor, who had to make way for Glen Little.
"I like playing in defence because you have everything in front of you," Davis admitted. "I have enjoyed playing in midfield but I am happy at the back.
"The important things is we have to take something away from the Spurs game for the match against Coventry tomorrow. We know we have got to bounce back after our last few league games and so we have to come back down to earth.
"We have set the standard but we know it will be impossible to play like that every week. But if we keep the work rate up, and get up against people we will be okay."
