PLACE him alongside a lump of cheese and he'll make your average cheddar look positively underground.
He's Lionel Vinyl and he's set to turn Thursday nights in a sleepy village into the biggest thing since grated parmesan.
For years, Lionel -- surprisingly, not his real name, which is a closely-guarded secret -- has been popping up at venues in Blackpool with his box of tricks which range from Abba through to modern day cheese (think about that Ketchup tune).
And now he has agreed to move away from the coast for just one night a week and has taken up residence at The Park nightclub in Charnock Richard, which opened to the public for the first time last week after being closed for four years.
At one time, The Park was the place to go for serious dance and its heyday arguably was when acid house was the "in" genre.
Now a £1million refit has changed all that. Bright and airy, it has a metropolitan feel about it and is aimed at the county's smart-set looking for a good night out. Which is where Lionel comes in.
He said: "We did the first night last Thursday and it was great.
"In no time at all, everyone was moving -- even the younger people who maybe didn't remember the music.
"It's a smart crowd who are there for a good time.
"The first week was great and we'll continue making it a better night as each week comes around."
He added: "They've done a great job on the club and the atmosphere is really there now. The sort of music we play is good party stuff. The Bee Gees, Abba, Duran Duran, Tiffany, that sort of stuff, as well as the modern party stuff which people want to dance to."
Live bands and performances can be expected week in week out, promised Lionel who, as with most cheesy artists, confesses to be a friend of the stars. The Park is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights -- more modern mainstream music can be expected on the latter two nights -- from 9.30pm until 2am.
Admission is around £5 and tickets can be purchased from 01257 455123.
