BLACKBURN pupils are being given the chance to visit local businesses to help them become more environmentally aware.
Youngsters from Sacred Hearts RC Primary School will visit Verifyne Plastics, in Blackburn, on Monday while children from Brookhouse County Primary will visit GCI Office Furniture, a week on Tuesday.
The trips have been organised by the environmental charity Groundwork, as part of the National RMC Greenlink Programme, supported by the RMC Environment Fund.
The project aims to help pupils make more responsible environmental decisions in their adult lives and careers by giving them a local insight and understanding how today's industries work.
Both companies will show the pupils how they can recycle the materials they use.
Sheridan Hilton, education assistant at Groundwork Blackburn, said: "This project helps give pupils and teachers an insight into local industry and helps them understand that the future of the environment is in their hands."
