RESIDENTS in Pendle have been urged to take more pride in their neighbourhoods during the first in a series of clean-up campaigns in some of the most deprived wards in the borough.
Ward councillors joined council officers and local residents recently in removing litter and unwanted large items from three streets in Bradley ward.
Residents are being encouraged to avoid leaving bin bags outside their homes in advance of their collection days and to request assistance from the council for the removal of bigger items.
During the clean-up in Cumberland Street, Newport Street and Rutland Street, skips were provided by the council.
Ward councillors Mohammed Iqbal and Mohammed Sakib joined the council's Neighbourhood Pride co-ordinator Nasreen Khanam this week to knock on residents' doors to encourage them to take part in the clean-up operation.
To check collection days or for information on the disposal of household waste, contact operational services on 01282 661743. More clean-ups are planned for other areas in coming weeks.
