A BEAT beat bobby is urging local residents to help him reel in the dealers after launching a new crackdown on drug-related crime.
Haslingden community beat manager PC Gordon McGeechan, has launched "Communities Against Drugs" in direct response to concerns from local residents about drug use.
As part of the new campaign, PC McGeechan and fellow officers will be actively targeting known and suspected drug users and issuing drugs warrants where appropriate in a bid to drive down drug related crime and reassure local communities.
PC McGeechan said: "Drug-related crime is no worse in Haslingden than anywhere else. However, it is a cause for concern both for the police and for local residents which is why we have launched this new crackdown." I am aware that people don't always feel comfortable coming forward with information about criminal activity but if we are to make real inroads into tackling drug related crime, then I need details of who is doing what and when."
People can either contact police on 01282 425001 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
