STEPHEN Bisping used the details of the previous tenant of a flat in Wilpshire to obtain goods from a mail order company.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Bisping failed to appear in court and it had then taken two and a half years for the warrant to catch up with him despite the fact that he had appeared in court on other matters in the meantime.
Bisping, 31, of George Street, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to obtaining property by deception.
He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £55 compensation and £50 costs.
Robin Phoenix, defending, said things had moved on considerably since the offence was committed in October 1999. He said Bisping now lived with his wife in Clitheroe where they both care for their daughter who was born with cerebral palsy.
"He was very foolish back in 1999 and this matter has haunted him ever since," said Mr Phoenix.
