A MAN was found dead in his house by a relative just hours after returning from a night out.
And today neighbours said that Stephen Ogilvie's death was a double tragedy for his family, coming just a year after his mother died.
Police believe Stephen may have fallen in the end-terrace house in Fielding Street, Rishton. His body was found yesterday.
Officers, who have yet to release the dead man's name officially, sealed off the street for much of the day while they examined the scene.
Uniformed, CID and scenes of crimes officers conducted detailed examination of the house.
Today, a police spokesman said: "We are not treating the death as suspicious.
"He was found by a male relative and is believed to have fallen in the house after returning from a night out."
A post mortem examiniation was due to be carried out today to establish the cause of death.
Neighbours said Stephen's father had gone away for the weekend and he had been found by his brother who called to the house on Sunday morning.
Mrs Kathleen Savage said: "He was quiet really. I always got on with him alright. Its awful. He was a nice lad."
Mandy Atherton said: "There was an ambulance and police cars here yesterday morning and the police asked us to go back into our houses.
"Then one of the neighbours came across and said Stephen had been found dead. That's all we know.
"He had a little black dog and walked it along the canal, that's how I know him. His mother died last year and she was quite young."
Barbara Tomlinson said Stephen was a friend of her son and that his father had been away for the weekend.
She said: "Stephen usually looks after the dog when his father, Bruce, is away.
"I saw the light on in the passageway all night on Saturday but I didn't think anything of it. The next thing I knew the police and paramedics were there on Sunday morning.
"He was a grand lad, very quiet. He had lost his mum just over 12 months since. He was going to college doing joinery.
"I saw him walking his dog last week and said hello and he said he was alright.
"He would come across here and ask if Leighton, my son was in.
"He liked Stephen and I thought he was grand. Its a shame, its a tragedy."
