REGARDING Mr Terry Sanderson, of the National Secular Society, objecting to public money being used to rebuild Christ Church in Nelson (Letters, January 28), what the people of Pendle want to do with their council tax monies is really not the affair of some obscure London society.
The vast bulk of the estimated £250,000 cost is being met by the Catholic and Methodist churches and their parishioners themselves. What the council is paying for are community facilities open to all and I feel that if Nelson as a whole is benefiting, then it is only right that they should contribute.
