A DRINK-driver was rumbled by police after they spotted the bumper hanging off his van and damage to the mirror and off side.
Burnley magistrates heard John Curtin, 32, told officers a car had just hit him and driven off when they went to talk to him in the early hours.
They noticed he had been drinking and Curtin was arrested after giving a positive roadside breath test.
Curtin, of Cross Street, Brierfield, admitted driving with excess alcohol and his case was adjourned until February 10. He was given an interim ban.
Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said at 4.20am, officers on duty in Colne saw a transit van stationery at traffic lights.
It appeared to have recent damage. The bumper was hanging off and after Curtin was taken to the police station, police found some debris in a street nearby.
The defendant gave two specimens of breath and the lower revealed 92 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.
