WHEN 17-year-old Harold Stamp spotted a girl from work walking home eating her fish and chips he decided she was the girl for him.
He asked her out and yesterday Harold, now 69, and Kathleen, 72, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
In between, the couple, who met at Butts mill, Great Harwood, had two daughters and a son.
Harold went on to work for Hyndburn Council, starting as a grave digger and ending up a park ranger.
More than 40 friends and family joined the couple for a buffet and disco at the Lomax Arms, Blackburn Road, Great Harwood, on Saturday, to celebrate their half a century together.
"I would marry her again," said Harold.
