RETIRED Blackburn GP Dr Alan Rebello and his wife Maisie celebrated their golden wedding with a mass at Sacred Heart church followed by a meal for family and close friends in Whalley.
The couple married in Bombay in 1953 and moved to the UK - where Dr Rebello, 79, was born and Mrs Rebello, 77, trained as a nurse - in 1954. They lived in London and Leeds before settling in Blackburn in 1958.
Dr Rebello had surgeries in Preston New Road and Cherry Tree and was a well known and highly respected member of his profession.
The couple have four sons, Louis, Andre, Tony and Alfred and three grandchildren who all joined them to celebrate their anniversary..
"It was nice to have everyone together," said Mrs Rebello. "We have been fortunate enough to see our children grow up and have time to enjoy our grandchildren."
