FIREFIGHTERS were called to a house fire in Burnley after a pan was left unattended.
The three-storey house in Hawthorne Road was smoke logged and there was heat damage to the kitchen units after fire broke out at 10.40am yesterday.
Leading firefighter Mick Hawke said: "The woman left a pan of beefburgers on the stove and had gone to the bathroom. She thought she had turned if off but hadn't. She had the radio on upstairs but luckily heard the smoke alarm and when she came out of the bathroom she was confronted with lots of smoke.
"She managed to get downstairs and out of the house and a neighbour helped turn the gas off and take the pan off."
No one was injured but the woman was said to be shaken.
