RUBBISH on spare land in Burnley is causing anger among residents living nearby.
Land next to the Kiddrow Lane Health Centre in Kiddrow Lane is now littered with rubbish and debris.
The remains of a community bonfire, held at the site annually, have not been removed since November last year.
The private land is managed by the owners of the Lane Ends pub in Kiddrow Lane.
June Sim, who lives in nearby Lowerhouse Crescent said: "Lowerhouse residents have had to endure this eyesore on the spare land at the side of the health centre for the past five years.
"The council continue to ask residents to re-cycle their rubbish and not to drop litter in the street, but are refusing to require a private land owner to clear the area of rubbish, in spite of the fact that it is now attracting fly-tippers.
"Their lack of commitment makes a mockery of the council's whole environmental policy."
Staff at the Lane Ends pub said the premises were about to change hands and the prospective owners had promised to deal with the rubbish.
