CRIME 'hot-spots' in Padiham are to be targeted by police. It is hoped the initiative deter potential crimes and catch many criminals in the act.
New equipment will be used in the campaign, such as surveillance cameras and an Automatic Number Plate Recognition System which is capable of scanning registration numbers.
PADIHAM Green School's 10-year-old pupils helped the owners of the Chippy on the Green - Cheryl and David Crabtree - celebrate their 10th year of running the chip shop.
The school held a colouring competition and some of the entries are on show now at the chip shop.
Cheryl and David made a donation of £50 to the school and arranged for prizes for the children who had taken part.
GIRLS from Padiham Green have been taking on the 'men' at football. They have been attending Burnley Football Club regularly and are currently taking part in the football competition.
THERE'S been a baby boom at Gawthorpe High School! Lucy, wife of Lower School headteacher Mike Tull, has given birth to Imogen, and Sally, wife of PE teacher Dave Cryer has given birth to Lydia.
PARENTS of pupils at Gawthorpe have been asked not to bring their cars on to the school site. Parents' cars have been causing chaos at opening and closing times making it difficult for school buses and staff to enter and leave school.
THE Winchester Club in Hapton was host to hungry, thirsty and very cold adults and children who had done the sponsored walk from the Hapton Inn to Bentley Wood Farm. More than £60 was raised by donations before the walk had even taken place. The final amount will be published when all the sponsor money is receive.
YEAR six pupils from Hapton Primary School attended an anti-social behaviour conference at Burnley Football Club. The event hoped to educate young people about nuisance and anti-social behaviour.
THE next meting of Hapton Parish will take place at the school on Tuesday at 7pm.
A SKIP will be placed behind the Methodist Church tomorrow and will remain there until Monday.
