LANCASTER Seed Savers are celebrating the diversity of British food with a day devoted to the humble potato on Saturday.
There will be an opportunity for gardeners, allotment holders and even just the curious to find out more about different varieties of potato - many of them organic or rare varieties which are part of the heritage of British horticulture.
As well as listening to talks and looking at the displays, there will be an opportunity for people to buy seed potatoes for this year's crop .
'Potato Day' is being organised at the Gregson Centre from noon to 4pm, food dishes using the spud are on the lunch menu and activities will be provided for children too. Admission is free.
