A 28-year-old man just released from jail was back in the cells the day after, Burnley magistrates heard.
The court was told Richard Whittaker urged police ;"Lock me up. I have just got out."
Whittaker, who had been spotted shouting and swearing and slamming the receiver against the side of a telephone box, was given a six months conditional discharge with £55 costs.
The defendant, of Whitegate Gardens, Padiham, admitted being drunk and disorderly.
Philip Whittaker, defending, said Whittaker had been released from prison the day before.
He had not been used to drinking and it had gone straight to his head. He had been on the phone in an attempt to reconcile with his partner. Things had not gone well and the defendant's emotions got the better off him.
